Aishleen Sluiters has a degree in law and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in History and Philosophy from the University of Auckland.

In 2012, Aishleen started working in an Auckland barristers’ chambers, whilst completing her professional legal studies.

Aishleen joined Edwards Law in April 2013 and was promoted to Managing Barrister alongside Blair Edwards in 2020. Aishleen loves her role in assisting to create a positive culture within Edwards Law’s brilliant team of talented lawyers.

Aishleen has a broad range of experience in employment law, including all types of personal grievance claims, disciplinary and performance concerns, workplace health and safety, and restructuring.

Aishleen has significant experience in providing strategic advice and assisting in resolving contentious employment matters. She also has experience in drafting legal documents (including agreements, correspondence, and pleadings).

Aishleen routinely represents both employee and employer clients in mediations and the Employment Relations Authority. She also represents clients in the Employment Court.

Aishleen also routinely presents employment-related seminars and workshops to clients and other lawyers and has provided case commentary for LexisNexis – Employment Law Bulletin.

Aishleen particularly enjoys the balance between the complex legislative and contractual issues and the personal side of employment law, dealing with people and problems. Aishleen appreciates that employment issues can be procedurally complex and difficult to navigate, for employers and employees alike.

Aishleen maintains a high work standard in order to meet clients’ needs. She is passionate about finding practical solutions to employment problems and giving sound, clear and concise advice to ensure her clients can make decisions with confidence.

Outside of work, Aishleen loves getting out on the water and spends her summers at the beach. She loves travelling and weekends away with friends (especially when a winery is involved).
